Winter Weather in Mountain Towns

Some wintry weather moved into the mountains Thursday, and drivers of all kinds of vehicles had to start dealing with that for one of the first times this fall. There were slushy roads in parts of the high country, and in Steamboat Springs, a local bus took a big slide on a town street Thursday, almost hitting a building, the Phoenix resort. Fortunately no one was hurt, and everyone got safely off the bus.

Although roads deteriorated Thursday in wide areas of the mountains, the conditions weren’t really considered “severe,” and no travel restrictions were issued, just advice to watch out a bit and take it easy behind the wheel of whatever size vehicles folks were driving. There were some advisories north of us, in Wyoming. But, another storm arriving for the weekend is expected to affect Colorado a bit more.
