Lots of folks showed up for the 5th Annual Sterling Meat-In event at the Logan County Fairgrounds on Saturday, March 22nd. It was also the 2nd Annual Meat-In Open Auctioneer Contest, complete with a full hamburger and hot dog feed and free-will donations. There were hundreds of silent auction & regular auction items sold to benefit the Miracle Letter Program - Angels Of Americas Fallen - The Family Resource Center - Ag Scholarships - Catfish Kicks for Kids - Sadie Bug Charities - Rocky Mountain Police & Fire Chaplains benevolence fund, and to the Bo English family.

Ms. Bo English is a single mother of 2 children, son Jordan (16) and daughter Ella (7). Bo was born with the ATM gene which is a very rare gene that doctors don’t have a lot of research on.  Bo was diagnosed with triple-positive invasive inflammatory breast cancer.  After Bo finished chemo, she had bilateral mastectomy and lymph node removal surgery in November 2024.  Bo has been through another round of chemo and now she will be driving to Greeley 5 days a week for 6 weeks for radiation treatment. Bo continues to work two jobs while going through this life-changing challenge.

According to Jason Santomaso, coordinator of the Sterling Meat-In, "We’re estimating 3-3,500 people. $170,000 was raised from the live and silent auction. I'm guessing with everything we will be around $210,000. The most memorable moment was when the auctioneer who won the contest gave half of his winnings ($5,000) back to the event. Also, when Darin Manuello bought the 1/4 beef and donated it directly to Bo English." "This is the greatest community in the world", Santomaso said. Media Logic Radio along with Christensen Ranch was proud to give away 50 - 1-pound packages of hamburger meat to attendees plus a lucky winner of a random drawing went home with a "steak" box full of fresh steaks, hamburger patties and hamburger just in time for grilling season.
