KRDZ Sports Update 01/29/24

It was a tough weekend for Wray Basketball. On Friday, the girls muscled out a tough win over Yuma 37-34, while the boys fell 58-53. On Saturday, both teams traveled separately but both came away with a pair of last-second losses, as the girls lost 52-50 at the buzzer to Dayspring Christian, and the boys lost 70-69 on a late 3 pointer to Berthoud. Wray Basketball will take on Limon on Friday and Haxtun on Saturday.


Wray Boys Wrestling had a pair of tournaments over the weekend. On Friday, the team finished in 2nd place in the 8-team McCook, NE dual tournament. Wray defeated Alliance, McCook, Amherst, and Gothenburg in duals before losing to North Platte. On Saturday, Wray finished in 2nd place by 1 point in the 17-team Stratton tournament. Casey Midcap, Eric Tracy, and Tavery Chappell all had 1st place finishes individually for Wray. Wray Boys Wrestling will take on Burlington in a dual on Thursday.


Wray Girls Wrestling finished in 47th place in a 53-team tournament at Chatfield on Saturday. Lauren Gdanitz finished in 5th, while Jaycie Snapp and Gabby Aguilar both finished in 6th. Wray Girls Wrestling will next wrestle in the regional tournament next Friday and Saturday at Fort Lupton.
