KRDZ Sports Update 05/20/24

Wray Baseball had a successful regional tournament in Burlington on Saturday. The 27th seeded Eagles upset 6th seeded Burlington 7-5 in the regional semifinals, as Rydge Peterson pitched a gem after overcoming a rough start, pitching all 7 innings and striking out 17 hitters to just 2 walks. Unfortunately, Wray was not able to carry that momentum into the regional championship, running into some great pitching and losing 7-1 to 11th seeded Dayspring Christian. Congratulations to the boys for finishing their season strong.

The state track meet wrapped up on Saturday. For Wray, the girls finished in 12th while the boys finished in 16th. Individually for the boys, Aaron Tena finished 6th in 110 meter hurdles and 3rd in 300 meter hurdles, and Reegan Shay finished 6th in pole vault. For the girls, Addi Jones finished 8th in the 800 meter, Sharon Greek finished 3rd in high jump, Sydnee Cheek finished 5th in pole vault, Makynna Deland finished 2nd in shot put, and Mariah Deland finished 7th in discus. Congrats to the athletes for their showings at the state meet.

The girls golf state tournament is today and tomorrow in Loveland, tee off at 8am. Representing Wray at the tournament will be Addi Jones and Kaitlyn Kramer. Good luck to the girls in the tournament.
