Sterling Police Department Investigates Attempted Child Abduction

Sterling, CO – October 15, 2024


At approximately 2:29 AM, the Sterling Police Department began investigating an attempted child abduction that occurred in the 300 block of Walnut Street. Allegedly, an 8-year-old girl was attacked by an unknown male who entered her home. The girl was able to escape the assailant and reported the incident to her parent, who contacted the police. The assailant fled the home on foot.


The suspect is described as a white male with a darker complexion, unknown age, thin build, approximately 6 feet tall, with bald or closely shaved hair, wearing a dark hoodie and pants.


Parents are urged to reinforce safety measures with their children, including:

  • Locking windows and doors

  • Keeping home areas well-lit

  • Reporting any suspicious individuals
