Sterling, CO – November 5th, 2024
At approximately 10:32 AM on November 5, 2024, the Sterling Police Department responded to a reported physical altercation between two males in the 200 block of North 8th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located one of the individuals with a stab wound, believed to have been inflicted with a metal type object.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the altercation began when one of the males, searching for a stolen bicycle, was confronted by the other individual, who believed he was trespassing on his property. The dispute escalated, and during the confrontation, the male searching for the bicycle was stabbed multiple times. Both individuals sustained injuries and were treated and later released from Sterling Regional MedCenter.
Detectives, in collaboration with patrol officers, responded to the scene and initiated a thorough investigation. Evidence was collected, and interviews were conducted. Based on the investigation, probable cause was established for the arrest of Charles Michael Jackson of Sterling. Jackson was arrested and
booked into the Logan County Jail on charges of:
First Degree Assault, CRS 18-3-202(1)(a) – Intent to cause serious bodily injury with a deadly weapon.
This incident is considered isolated, and there is no ongoing public safety threat related to the event.
