Colorado State Patrol -
On Thursday, February 22, at 2:44 PM the Colorado State Patrol and local emergency services responded to a single vehicle crash on Hwy 287 near Red Mountain Road in Larimer County. A Toyota RAV4 with five occupants traveling southbound drove off the left shoulder and rolled multiple times. Two occupants were ejected from the vehicle. Of the five occupants, three were deceased and two were transported to area medical facilities with non-life threatening injuries. The deceased occupants are a 22, & a 21 year old male and an 18 year old female. The injured parties were a 21, and a 20 year old male.
The Colorado State Patrol is working closely with the University of Wyoming and have confirmed the deceased parties were members of the University of Wyoming swim team. They were not believed to be traveling for an official school function at the time of the crash.
The crash is being investigated by the Colorado State Patrol and is still considered to be in its early stages. The cause and other possible factors remains under investigation.
