The Colorado State Patrol, CDOT crews and rescue vehicles responded to a crash involving two semi-trailers on Highway 34 at the intersection with County Road 16, west of Fort Morgan. The incident happened right across the street from the KFTM studios, where witnesses said they heard a loud ‘boom’ outside, near the area, just after 1pm on Wednesday afternoon. (February 12th) Â
It appeared that a Transystems semi-trailer was traveling eastbound on Highway 34 approaching CR-16, when its front end collided with the side of a semi-trailer traveling southbound on CR-16, through the intersection at Highway 34. The drivers of both semis exited their vehicles, they appeared to be in good shape, but any injuries are unknown at this time. The cause of the crash is unknown.
There was about a 5-minute delay in all directions, as traffic flow was reduced to one alternating lane on Highway 34, while tow trucks arrived on scene, and the clean-up and investigation continued. Traffic was allowed to pass through the north and south bound lanes on CR-16 during the clean-up stages in the same manner. The crash scene was completely cleared by just after 3:15pm, as traffic flow recovered almost immediately.Â
